No fee is ever required from our candidates (you). We are happy to do the recruitment and research work for you free of charge! Your VDF recruiter's sole job is to find out what it is you are looking for and find you a perfect practice in a community you want. VDF is compensated by hospitals on a contingency basis, meaning we introduce you to a hospital or health system - and if you are hired, they will pay VDF directly for recruitment services.
To get started, you will meet with a VDF placement representative by phone. During the phone call, we will ask questions that will help us place you in your ideal setting. We like to get to know our candidates - what you love, what you hate, what type of community suits you best and how we can best help you. Initial phone calls are about 30 minutes.
I'm ready to make a friend (VDF) who is in the business of helping me - let's schedule a call!
Your placement depends on a variety of factors. VDF will start researching locations and presenting you to opportunities immediately. We will follow-up with the opportunities to ensure you are called in a timely fashion. After that, the interview process depends on how fast the employer moves you through the interview process - rest assured VDF has your back and will call and push the process along! Below is an estimated timeline:
VDF Placement presents you to opportunities (0-2 days).
Recruiter from healthcare organization schedules a call with you (0-7 days).
Recruiter works with you to schedule interviews with health system stakeholders (3 days to 2 weeks).
Health system brings you out for a site visit (dependent on your availability).
VDF follows up with health system and decision on an offer is made (0-7 days after site visit).
Start date with health system - dependent on your timeline. Usually no sooner than 2 months due to licensing and credentialing.
Your last year of residency is the best time to look for your practice. Most physicians start their search between 6 months to a year before completion of their program. This allows time for credentialing and signing early can lead to an early bonus to assist with expenses.
Another bonus of starting your search early is the ability to practice certain skills or procedures that you know you will be necessary in your chosen location. Of course, it is never too early to start researching your preferred locations!
Heck yes! We are happy to help your friends find their ideal practice as well. If you refer a friend, that is hired after using our services, VDF will send you a gift of appreciation.
